Guitarist friend Jack Sherman passes
Jack Sherman was my close friend for 22 years. He passed away this week yet he left us with lots of great Rock N Roll with a funky edge. He was a talented guitarist best known for his years with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He worked closely with George Clinton, played on Bob Dylan’s album Knocked Out Loaded and worked with many artists including Barry Goldberg, Charlie Sexton, Peter Case, John Hiatt, Gerry Goffin, and Tonio K. I photographed him many times including with his bandmates Maria Sebastian and Gary Mallaber in their band In From the Cold. Mostly I hung out with Jack a lot including at NAMM, various recording sessions, Eric Clapton’s guitar auction, biking at the beach, movies, birthdays, many lunches and dinners and of course an occasional guitar jam. Rest in Peace Jack--you were one of a kind. Sending prayers to Jack’s wife and children.
