Learning guitar is a rewarding and enjoyable journey that can last a lifetime. However, it can also be challenging and frustrating at times, especially if you don’t have a clear plan or guidance. To help you learn guitar from beginner to expert, I have created a list of what you need to learn at each stage, along with some examples of guitar tabs using ASCII characters. Here is the list:

• New player steps: These are the basic skills and knowledge you need to start playing guitar. You should learn how to:Choose a guitar that suits your style, budget and body size
• Tune your guitar accurately and quickly
• Hold your guitar and pick correctly
• Read guitar tabs and chord diagrams
• Play some easy chords and strumming patterns
• Play some easy songs that use those chords

• Play more strumming patterns, including syncopation and palm muting
• Play some basic scales, such as the pentatonic scale and the major scale
• Play some simple riffs and melodies using those scales
