Guinness Six Nations - Super Saturday
Firstly, my apologies for missing my predictions on round 4 as things got away from me in Rome. For information, I backed Italy, England and France to win!!
With what happened in round 4, all three games in the final round have so much riding on them. Mathematically, Ireland, England, Scotland and France can all still win the Six Nations which is remarkable and Wales and Italy are playing to avoid the Wooden Spoon. Despite losing last week at Twickenham, Ireland are hot favourites to win the Championship with one match point probably enough irrespective what England, France or Scotland do. Let's get into the predictions.
Wales v Italy
Italy are on a roll. They backed up a draw against France with beating Scotland so will come into this game very confident. They won the last time they played in Cardiff so they will be desperate to finish a very good tournament with another win which could take them into 3rd place in the table which would be their best finish ever. Wales have lost all 4 games but have showed in all of them that they can play good attacking rugby. They will be desperate to avoid a whitewash which could well inspire them to victory. Wales by 3

Ireland v Scotland
Ireland need to put the disappointment of Twickenham behind them and focus on winning back-to-back titles which is no mean feat. They will be smarting from how England dominated them in areas that they have been really strong in and this worries me. I think Ireland will be desperate to show that what happened last week was a blip. This Six Nations has been a roller-coaster for Scotland and it could easily have seen Scotland heading to Dublin for a Grand Slam and a shot at the Championship. They are not because they lost two games they should have won and now face an Ireland team with their eyes set on the big prize in Dublin on St Patrick's Weekend. Ireland by 15
France v England
France played much better last week to beat Wales in Cardiff but it was very much the power that came off the bench that made the difference. England are a stronger team that Wales so this might not be as significant a factor in Lyon in the final game. France had lost their mojo in the first 3 games but started to find it a bit in Cardiff. The same could be said of England who produced a performance from the gods to beat grand slam chasing Ireland. This England team has potential, we just hadn't seen it being realised in the first 3 games and if they can hit the same emotional high away from Twickenham then they will be a match for any team. This one is so tight but I am going with England by 3.
