“Guilty Magician” Syndrome OR Why You Can Be Successful Yet Feel Empty Inside?

“Guilty Magician” Syndrome OR Why You Can Be Successful Yet Feel Empty Inside?

Do you sometimes feel

SUCCESSFUL by everybody’s standards!

Yet it feels EMPTY inside?

This is called the “Guilty Magician” Syndrome

What is it?

It simply means you are living outside your values.

?Success in this case is not working for you. Everyone tells you how awesome you are as a colleague, as a leader, or team member;?

you have financial satisfaction & it looks good ‘on paper.’?

But you feel like a phony. Fake.?

Like you are getting away with something, living in a ‘supposed to’ – someone else’s dream.?

Do you feel like one person at home and another at work?

Listen! Success is great and there is nothing wrong with it. But success outside of your values will always leave you feeling like you are missing something, wanting.?

What are values?

Values are the ideas we have about what is good and what is bad, how we think, how things should be, and especially about those things we care a lot about.

?We have values about family and personal relationships, money, work,, etc.

?Our values are usually closed and related to our beliefs.

?We judge ourselves and others based on what we value.

?Debt or shame usually occurs when we have done something violating one of our values. We can also feel guilty towards others if we know we've violated their values.

?When we break a promise to ourselves, we begin to lose faith in ourselves.

Why are values important to check for any career you aim for?

Trust is the core base of every human relationship, especially the relationship with ourselves whether at work or in our private life. And trying to compartmentalize your life can result in a huge psychological gap felt as “emptiness” inside.

So it is important to check your values every now and then, especially when you are about to make a major career change.

STEP 1: Check your values. Make a list of 10 of your most important values.

STEP 2:

Divide the values you found in STEP 1 into two categories: a/achievable values (those values that you already have and live by) and b/ultimate values (the values that you would like to have.)?

STEP 3:

Describe what a perfect day for you as a professional will look like. Do your values already fit in this day?

STEP 4:

What are two small tweaks you can do to integrate your core values into your daily routine in your career/profession?
