I know this is supposed to be a weekly article, but I can't help myself. I love sharing thoughts and ideas and if it helps you with your goals, then brilliant.
I wanted to share one of my favourite quotes, that I carry with me internally always.
"Leaving referrals to chance is a crime against your business."
Think about it.
Do you receive business through word of mouth? Of course you do. Quite honestly, if you were not, there would be something very wrong with your business model. But please do not confuse referrals with word of mouth. Word of mouth appointments are an added bonus; it is not a way of running your business. Can you rely on those leads to come through in volume every day, every week and every year? I would suggest not.
Don’t kid yourself that you have a proactive approach to referrals if all you do is trip over them by accident.
You need a system. You need a process.
By creating a system that encourages a referral culture, you can proactively aim towards generating serious numbers of referrals. Any system must begin with educating your clients that you are a referral-based business.
Think about it.
Do all of your clients know that the way you are able to provide the level of quality service is through personal recommendations from existing clients? Have you informed them?
So, having a system is key, but every system needs action
And that's what we are going to deal with next. The action you can take towards becoming a referral based business.
