Hello and welcome to the May edition of the Guilford Newsletter.
Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed each May in the United States since 1949. At Guilford, we are proud to publish resources that empower mental health clinicians to provide top quality care to their patients, as well as resources that offer support and relief to people directly—whether they are suffering from depression, anxiety, ADHD, or other common issues. We invite you to visit our Mental Health and Education Resources Page to browse a collection of free book chapters and other tools for self-help and therapy.
Below are some recent highlights from our books and authors. Thanks so much for staying connected with us!

Exploring the human capacity to overcome adversity with resilience
Ann Masten, author of Ordinary Magic, was presented with the 2024 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Psychology. She discussed her research on resilience: "As I studied children and families dealing with war, disasters, poverty, violence and homelessness, I found a consistent set of surprisingly ordinary but powerful factors at work," she said. "Resilience didn’t depend on special qualities but on a capacity to adapt that we develop over time as we are nurtured, learn and gain experience."
