The Guiding Light of Leadership

How are you feeling in your leadership role?

?? Stressed ?? Frustrated ?? Out of sorts

It’s perhaps no wonder given the year we’ve had. Interestingly whilst we would like to blame COVID for how we are feeling, this isn’t necessarily right.

In the work I have been doing with my clients (especially 1-2-1 coaching) it’s become very clear their challenges are not COVID specific.

The issues they are facing were there long before the pandemic hit. The difference is that when the rest of their lives were operating on a fairly even keel, they could hide their stress and frustration. They could use the busyness of their lives as a reason not to confront what was really going on.

However, lockdown put a stop to that. Quite literally.

No longer could they ignore what was happening. A bit like a sore you are hoping will heal on its own but it doesn’t. It just keeps getting worse. So much so that in the end you have to look for help.

If you are currently feeling stressed, frustrated and out of sorts there is something that you are not paying attention to. Your body is screaming at you to take action and you NEED to LISTEN.

Leadership is never an easy road to travel and it is even more treacherous right now.

Over the past year we have had to put aside many of our core leadership skills (strategic planning, improving existing systems and developing colleagues) and replace them with others; firefighting, ensuring existing systems can cope with the COVID savaged world and keeping our teams going during prolonged periods of immense pressure and home working.

The good news is that there is light at the end of the tunnel. At some point in the future, we will emerge from lockdown and the restrictions that have been placed on us will ease. The world will start to rebalance. But the realignment will bring new challenges and if those previous sores haven’t healed, they will open up again.

So, what can you do?

If it’s now clear something wasn’t right even before the pandemic hit (although you might have been aware of it), you certainly can’t go back to doing what you did previously. As we all know doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is madness. And you are NOT mad ??

You need to do something different. You need to shift your perspective.

The Guiding Light will help you to do just that.

It provides you with a lens through which you are able to catalogue all the interplays that are taking place within your business. It helps you to make sense of your world and the information you are receiving. Through it you are able to create order and decide what action to take so you can begin to shift those feelings of stress and frustration.

Now doesn’t that sound like something you would like to know more about?

The guiding light provides the base methodology for a six-week transformational leadership experience which will start on 1st March 2021.

Mel, providing a lens from which to see and assess our new complex messy world sounds very valuable...and necessary for leaders who want to not reacting and start designing success strategies. You’re amazing to work with and are always thinking of how to give and offer more value. This programme sounds fab.
