Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today, we step into a conversation that’s been growing louder in our culture: Can science and faith coexist? Many have come to believe that science and Christianity are at odds, like two opposing forces. Some say that to believe in God, you have to deny science. Others suggest that science has made belief in God obsolete.
But is that really true? Do we, as Christians, have to choose between science and faith? Or can they actually complement each other? As we explore this question, we’ll find that science and faith not only coexist but also lead us deeper into awe and wonder at God’s creation.
Let’s start by acknowledging the beauty of both science and faith. Psalm 19:1 tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” In other words, creation itself speaks to the existence and majesty of God. Science, in its pursuit of understanding the natural world, is really exploring the intricate design of the Creator.?
Think about the complexities of the universe—the precision of the laws of physics, the vastness of the cosmos, the intricate design of DNA. Every discovery science makes unveils the wisdom and order that God has woven into His creation.
It’s important to understand that science and faith operate in different spheres, asking different kinds of questions. Science is the study of the how—how the world works, how life functions, how the universe came into being. Faith, on the other hand, deals with the why—why the world exists, why we are here, and what our purpose is.
While science gives us incredible insights into the mechanisms of life, it doesn’t answer the deeper questions about meaning, morality, and destiny. For these, we turn to God’s Word, which reveals the purpose and direction of our lives.
Far from disproving God, many scientific discoveries point to an intelligent Designer. The fine-tuning of the universe is one such example. The physical constants of the universe—like gravity, the speed of light, and the strength of electromagnetic forces—are set at such precise values that even the slightest variation would make life impossible. This level of precision suggests a purposeful design behind the universe.
Consider also the complexity of DNA, which carries the information necessary to build and sustain life. The intricacies of this "language of life" reveal a design far too complex to be attributed to random chance. As Christians, we see these scientific discoveries not as threats to our faith, but as confirmations of a Creator’s hand at work.
One of the most contentious issues in the conversation between science and faith is evolution. Some feel that accepting the theory of evolution means denying the creation account in Genesis. But it’s important to remember that Christians hold a range of views on this topic. Some see evolution as a process God used to bring about His creation, while others hold to a more literal interpretation of Genesis.

The key is not to let this debate become a stumbling block to faith. Whether God created the world in six days or through a process over millions of years, the truth remains that He created it. The "how" of creation can be explored through science, but the "why" of creation is answered in the opening words of the Bible: "In the beginning, God..." (Genesis 1:1).
We live in a time where scientific advancement is accelerating faster than ever before. While this has led some to question the need for faith, I believe it has only deepened the wonder of God’s creation. Every new discovery gives us another glimpse into the mind of the Creator.
As Christians, we don’t need to fear science. We can engage with it, study it, and appreciate the ways it reveals God’s order and creativity. Proverbs 25:2 reminds us, "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings." God invites us to explore His creation, and science is one way we do that.
As we think about the relationship between science and faith, I invite you to look at the world around you with fresh eyes. Whether it’s the stars in the sky, the intricacies of the human body, or the mysteries of space, each discovery can point us back to the One who created it all.
If you’ve ever struggled with the tension between science and faith, know that you’re not alone. Let’s have these conversations with open hearts and minds, knowing that all truth is God’s truth—whether discovered in the Bible or through scientific exploration.
I’d love to hear from you. How have you navigated the relationship between science and faith? Do you see them as complementary, or do you feel a tension between the two? Let’s continue this dialogue and grow together in understanding.
In His boundless wisdom,
