Guided by The Gospel - Issue 22 (Trusting God)

Dear Cherished Explorers,

Trust is an essential pillar of our faith in God. Every page of the Bible imparts teachings and stories emphasizing the importance and reward of undying trust in the Almighty. In this week's "Guided by The Gospel", we will unravel what it means to truly lean on God.

Scriptural Reflections:

- Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

- Isaiah 26:3-4 - “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.”

- Psalm 37:5 - "Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act."

- Psalm 56:3 - "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."

Through these scriptures, we're reminded that our trust in God isn't a passive belief; it's a conscious choice of surrender and faith, believing that He always has our best interest at heart.

Practical Examples of Trusting God:

- Facing Financial Strain - Sarah, a single mother of three, faced unemployment. Turning to Philippians 4:19, "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus", she prayed and later found a job that suited both her skills and her family's needs.

- Dealing with Illness - After Mark's tough diagnosis, he clung to Jeremiah 17:7, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD." He found inner peace and began a support group to uplift others who were having similar challenges.

- Unexpected Relocation - James has a job he loves. To continue in that job, he has to relocate to a different city where he has no previous connections. With Psalm 9:10 in mind, "And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you", he discovered a vibrant new community and church family in that new city.

- Overcoming Fear - Lisa's fear of water was challenged when she felt God's calling. Trusting in Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God", she took swimming lessons and now leads a church outreach group that is focused on water activities.

- Guidance in Career - Tom, uncertain about his career path, leaned on Proverbs 16:9, "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps." He ventured into a new field and now joyfully serves others through his profession.

Questions to Ponder:

- How do you manifest your trust in God during challenging times?

- In what areas of your life do you find it easiest to trust God?

- What barriers do you face when trying to trust God wholeheartedly?

- How has your understanding and experience of trusting God evolved over time?

- Can you recall a time when trusting in God led to an unexpected blessing?

A very timely message Edward Thomas in a situation currently where I had done everything I could to procure a new client. It is one of those long nerve wrecking corporate sign ups. All I can do now is trust for a good outcome according to Gods plan
