Bitcoin mania - Guide to safely getting into cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrency mania is here!

Everyone is talking about it. I hear Bitcoin talk in the lifts, Etherium talk in coffee shops, ICO talk at xmas parties. Uber drivers are talking about it. My family and friends are asking about it.

After answering the same questions over and over I decided selfishly to produce a little video tutorial that answers all the questions I get asked about.

(29/01/0218) Update: I had a lot of requests to split the video into smaller chunks. You can find a link to the 7 part series here : 7 Part video series link

The purpose of this video is to educate you. Getting into cryptocurrency investing can be daunting, overwhelming and risky. In this talk I try to cover the basics to ensure you understand what you're getting into. I emphasise safety because security is something that becomes very important if you intend on trading/investing in cryptocurency.

So many people are going into this space blindly and without real knowledge of what they are doing and investing in. This is my attempt to educate those individuals and make the process that little bit safer.

The talk covers...

If you are interested in more detail about the blockchain and the underlying mechanisms that enable bitcoin then you can check out this article here that I wrote that will make you an expert in no time at all. https://bluenotes.anz.com/posts/2016/05/longread-everything-you-ll-ever-need-to-know-about-blockhain-and-more

The SEC Chairman Jay Clayton just put out a statement relating to ICO's. Its a very balanced view with some great advice. https://www.sec.gov/news/public-statement/statement-clayton-2017-12-11

I cover this caution in the talk but want to re iterate once again that:

Cryptocurrencies trading is a high risk activity

  • The rewards can be very high but so are the risks
  • Only trade and invest with money you are prepared to and can afford to lose
  • The information in this presentation is for your education
  • Nothing in here constitutes investment advice or endorsement of cryptocurrency trading
  • The views and opinions expressed in this communication are mine only and do not reflect the views and opinions of my employer

Hopefully you might find this useful. Feel free to share with your friends who might be thinking about this. It's important they understand how to safely go about getting started. https://youtu.be/2_tGEy_nia4 or 7 part link here

Also quick thanks to Daniel Gonsalves who created the logo and intro video for this. He is a multi-media genius.

Also hit like on the video if you find it useful. It means more people ultimately get to see it and get educated based on youtube's promotional algorithms.

The weakest link in the blockchain has no security. Until that is no longer the case, the only people who can consistently make money on cryptos are ransomware authors and hackers.

Great Vid Chris Venter, I think bitcoin is just the beginning, the wider application of block chain is the really exciting stuff.
