Guide to competitor studies via Chat GPT

This is a quick guide to using Chat GPT to do a competitor study. You would be amazed how easy and quick to get useful and interesting data.

There are just 2 main steps required.

Step 1: Ask Chat GPT to list competitors of your company

Step 2: Ask Chat GPT to provide a table with the competitors and their critical information that is needed for the competitor study.

For step 1, I use my company as an example. My company is Power Integrations. I ask Chat GPT to to analyse Power Integrations website and list me our competitors. (I use the following prompt: "See Power Integrations website: "www.power.com". Give me a list of companies which manufacture power IC semiconductor products and are competitors of Power Integrations."

Chat GPT immediately lists me the following companies:

Infineon Technologies,Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics, ON Semiconductor, Maxim Integrated, Analog Devices, Renesas Electronics, Microchip Technology, NXP Semiconductors and ROHM Semiconductor.

For step 2, I use this list of competitors and ask Chat GPT to create a table with these competitors with columns to show their countries of origin, revenues and year, net earnings and year,?and their year of incorporation. Please check their corporate web-pages if necessary. For non-US dollars, convert them into USD and put it beside the non-US dollars.

I use this prompt: "Create a table with these competitors with columns to show their countries of origin, revenues and year, net earnings and year,?and their year of incorporation. Please check their corporate web-pages if necessary. For non-US dollars, convert them into USD and put it beside the non-US dollars."

Almost instantly, Chat GPT creates the below competitor table for you. This is fabulous. You will immediately have the first draft of the competitor study ready on you table.
