Guide to buying a Motorcycle Helmet!

it's a myth that good helmets are expensive, well expensive helmets definitely have more features but doesn't mean cheaper helmets are less safe. People often buy helmets going by brands and their popularity and failing to look at the certifications. Not all models of a particular brand get safety certification.

Take an example of Brand BELL helmets, BELL has over 20 different models that they retail but only some of the models have certification and cheapest among them is BELL vortex. Now the catch is that not all Sizes of BELL Vortex have certification, for instance size S, M may have failed the certification and size L and XL may have passed it. So one needs to be cognizant about this fact.

Other factors that you should look at is durability,

availability of parts (cheek pads and Visor),

comfort (according to the size of your head and how noisy helmet is. A noisy helmet can actually cause deafness),

features ( air vents, anti fog visors, star style, material),

weight ( a heavy helmet can cause fatigue during long rides) and lastly style( pick up something which is unique and suits your bike and personality. A tracker helmet is purposefully made for track and cruiser style helmet is made for laid back riding)
