Guide to Buying a Franchise

As a business broker, I sell both franchised and non franchised businesses. The decision to purchase a franchised business often stems by the desire for training, support, brand awareness and feeling part of a team.

Important Steps if you are Considering Buying a Franchise

  1. Information; In order to find the right franchise for you, we need to learn who you are. Why are you interested in buying a franchise? What makes the most sense given your background & experience. We are then able to create your franchise buying profile.
  2. Research: Once your profile is completed, we're able to compare the results with the inventory of franchises available to purchase. This is traditionally a time consuming process which we handle for you. Given our extensive franchise experience, we're able to effectively connect you with the right opportunities and determine their availability.
  3. Presentation: Once Transworld has created your sustomised list of franchises, we will present you with each franchise, their highlights and why we feel they're the right match.
  4. Communication: Once you are ready to speak with your selected franchises, Transworld will organise the innitial meetings and / or conference calls.
  5. Evaluation: After speaking with the various franchises, you will typically receive a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) for your review. This document contains essential information for you to make an informed business decision.
  6. Validation: After reviewing the FDD, it's time to start inquiring and validating the information with current franchisees.
  7. Assurance: At this time, you may still have some questions regarding the franchise. A call with the franchise company will be scheduled to obtain answers.
  8. Exploration: In order to meet your partners in person and learn more about your potential franchise, you will typically attend a Discovery Day to help make your final decision.
  9. Conclusion: After the previous eight steps, it's time to make a decision. This will either be to sign the franchise agreement with your new business or to keep searching, going through Transworld's process again.
