Guest Instructor - Kevin Guidry

From Lafayette, Louisiana, Kevin Guidry a foreman for Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corporation (SLEMCO) made a weeklong appearance to attend our new course – Instructor Development for Journeyman Lineworkers (EPP520). This class invites journeymen to teach beside TEEX instructors at our Utilities Training Hangar located on Texas A&M – RELLIS in Bryan. Here, they work with the Lineworker Academy to share industry knowledge and help them develop their skills.

Guidry shared that he has been in the utilities industry for about 19 years and has taken many classes with TEEX Safety’s Utilities program. He was quick to share that the instructors are top-notch and encouraging to work with when going over specific concepts or discussing new methods with students in the Lineworker Academy. Our 15-week Lineworker Academy offers classroom and hands-on field training with a real-world approach delivered through a high-quality curriculum and experienced instructors. He has enjoyed teaching tips and tricks alongside the students and shared that they have a bright future. He hopes others will get the opportunity to take this class and help make a difference and train industry leaders of tomorrow.

We look forward to expanding our training opportunities with others in the Utilities industry. If you are interested in learning more about our program you can visit our website at teex.org/program/utilities/ or call (800) 723-3811.
