Guess Who's Back...
Summer is well and truly over. The last part of term 3, May and June, were some of the hardest of my life, so the summer gave me time to rest and heal. If you have been on this journey with me, you would have known that I suffered a heart-shattering bereavement at the end of the last academic year, and so I needed the time over the summer to come to terms with all that happened.
So here is what I got up to...
Nothing soothes my soul like travelling so this summer my family and I travelled through Italy. We started our trip in Rome and then went on to Milan, Lago Majore, Vanzaghello and Venice. It was one of the most wonderful holidays I have ever had. I ate the food, drank the wine, rested and felt so much better for it.
After our trek through Italy, we went home to the UK to be enveloped by the love and warmth of family. And amidst the riot and all that was happening in the UK, we felt loved and cared for.
Sometimes, when the world gets too much, all we need to do is to go where we feel safe, where we can take off all the masks we wear and bear our souls to the people who love us the most.
Now that we are back and rearing to go, let's get down to business. This academic year, my one goal is to connect more deeply with the people I serve. My aim is not to be well known but to be known well.
We will kick things off this Friday, September 6, 2024, at?Al Habtoor Grand Hotel Dubai Marina?with METLC and The Educators Welcome Reception. Join us from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event is free for educators. Register here:
Welcome to season 5 of the Teach Middle East Podcast. We kick off this season with a chat with none other than the amazing Mark Leppard MBE . He shares his transformative leadership journey.
Mark delves into how the pandemic reshaped his outlook on life and work, fostering a deeper sense of empathy, tolerance, and the importance of self-care.
He reflects on the profound impact of meaningful interactions with students, emphasising the importance of legacy beyond physical achievements.
The conversation also navigates the complexities of leadership succession in educational institutions, where Mark offers invaluable strategies for preparing future leaders through mentorship and structured support.

By the way, I'm sharing this: "This academic year, my one goal is to connect more deeply with the people I serve. My aim is not to be well known but to be known well." 6 个月It's so good to hear that you did self-care this summer for rest and healing, Leisa Grace Wilson. We all need that when we're hit by personal hardship. Now, you can get back at it, and it looks like you have a busy year already mapped out. I also appreciate the mention. I am connected to some already and am eager to check out the others. You're surely among the ones I hold in high regard, as well.
