The Guardian of Me is Me
Of me, there are three.
One you may see.
Past me.
Present me.
Future me.
Three.
Past me fills my dreaming head.
With scenes of glory, scenes of dread.
Past me with extendible shadow.
Over land of plenty, over land of fallow.
Taunts and cheers, I hear both today.
Influence of past, on scales I weigh.
Present me lives in moments of splendor.
To touch, embrace, and warmth I surrender.
In glorious moments, I prefer not to toil.
Or take time to cull weeds, ensure fertile soil.
Oh, I wish I might revel in present day’s now.
For health of my future, fields I must plough.
For future me blooms in a precarious state.
Decisions of yore have crafted my fate.
Tomorrow uncoils from moments in time.
Future me forged from present’s design.
Pieces in place. Lessons learned I apply.
Future me options, on past I rely.
And foregoing past splendor, I toiled on bent knee.
My future me guardian is present day me.
