Ask Yourself These Questions
The Soloist’s competence is around “who” completes the task. For it to be an achievement, it has to be you who completes the work.?
There is no asking for help when you’re a soloist, because this is a sign of failure. Seeking help from others evokes shame and would reveal your phoniness. Not sure if this applies to you?
The cost of being a Soloist includes loneliness and isolation, difficulty connecting with others, and the inability to express your feelings.
Will you go to extremes to figure things out on your own? Great leaders support their teams by empowering them to do their work, not hoarding it for themselves. They can’t afford to go it alone; their business wouldn’t survive if they led this way.
If you are experiencing shame that comes from feeling like a fraud and you don’t want to look weak in the eyes of others, you don’t ask for help. Yet, extraordinary leaders always seek other people’s help, because their business success depends on it. It’s not a sign of weakness to ask for help!
