The 53rd GST counselling meeting chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala sitharaman on Saturday decided to exempted the GST on charges for student hotels located outside the educational institutions as well as the hostels inside the institutional premises.
This policy has progressively changed the higher education and will make it more affordable and accessible for the students across the country by eliminating the GST burden on PG housing.
The students are showing their heart filled gratitude to prime minister Narendra Modi and Indian government for this landmark decision of removal of GST for students paying guest accommodations. Chitra, a msc horticulture student from Haryana at LPU said that “this is such a relief for students like me the GST on PG rentals added significant expense and now we can redirect those forms towards or education and living costs I am grateful to PM Modi for privatizing the needs of the students”.
