Nobel Upstream seeks to buy Gryphon FPSO from Total

Nobel Upstream has offered to buy the Gryphon floating production storage and offloading vessel from current operator TotalEnergies .

The French supermajor shut down production from Gryphon at the start of the year, in line with its previously filed decommissioning plan from 2023, which envisions work taking place later this year and lasting until 2026.

Energy skills passport for oil and gas workers launches at last

An energy skills passport to help workers transition their training and accreditations from oil and gas jobs to similar roles in the renewables sector has launched, and will be expanded across the UK.

“It is absolutely vital that we recognise and retain the considerable skills of oil and gas workers and ensure they are supported, as part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and just transition for Scotland," said Acting Cabinet Secretary Gillian Martin .

Sumitomo set to provide cable for Shetland 2 Link from Scottish factory

The first big announcement at the Offshore Wind show in Glasgow this week was a crucial agreement to manufacture a 500 mile cable for the Shetland 2 interconnector at the £350m Sumitomo cable factory, being built in the Highlands.

“This is a significant milestone for Sumitomo’s subsea cable factory investment in Scotland. Sumitomo and Van Oord are committed to successful construction of the HVDC link in a safe and timely manner," commented Chair of Sumitomo Electric UK and Europe yasuyuki shibata .
