grumpiness is contagious

grumpiness is contagious

I don’t spend nearly as much time on social media as I used to, so I’m not sure if in the past I was too immersed in it that I missed it, or that something on the platforms has changed, or if people are just grumpier today than in the past, but I see a lot of complaining, stirring of the pot, and conflict on my feed (mainly Twitter, but see it on Instagram and LinkedIn a little).

The tone of social media definitely makes me want to spend even less time on it because I know grumpiness is contagious, and the life perspectives of others can influence my perspective if I allow them to.

Thankfully, social media is not my only social outlet, and I have more control over who I spend time with socially among family and friends, my clients, my advisor peers, and The AGC; if there were a feed for this social network, it would look drastically different than social media. I’m grateful to have a lot of people in my life who are positive, optimistic, happy, and positively impact my life.?

There is little to no grumpiness in the social network where I spend most of my time.

As we head into the holiday season, consider how much influence your social networks have on your mood and perspective on life, and if those networks are not lifting you up, consider making some changes–cleansing your feed, changing who you follow, or finding people who operate at a higher frequency to hang out with.

Because positivity, optimism, and happiness are just as contagious as grumpiness.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
