Topic 1: Is Your Message Resonating with Your Audience?

Communication is a part of our daily lives, but have you ever considered whether your words are making an impact on whom you communicate with? Let's explore some guidelines for making it effective.

1?? Speak clearly??: When discussing a point, clearly state your position. Make it evident and easy to understand. It is your responsibility to back up your stance with facts. If possible, provide an example to support your point. Summarize your argument in a concise sentence. This gives your speech a logical structure, ensuring clarity.

2?? Speak with an understanding ??: There's nothing worse than inviting people for a discussion without a clear idea of what to talk about. An ambiguous understanding can be counterproductive, as participants may leave with incomplete or potentially harmful information. Plan in advance which key points you want to address and the strength of your arguments. It will facilitate smoother conversation flow and help bring discussions to a resolution.

3?? Speak with a stand ??: Do not hesitate to take a stand, especially on controversial topics. Being indecisive can undermine your credibility, and people will trust you more if you express a clear stance. Taking a position doesn't mean picking sides; it's about ensuring your viewpoint is acknowledged. In situations where you lack a firm opinion on a topic, openly admit it and temporarily pause. Assure to revisit the issue once you've enough information.

4?? Speak with commitments ??: Always fulfill your commitments. It's surprising how quickly you can lose the respect of your audience if you are inconsistent. Here, authenticity plays a crucial role. Your words and actions should always align. If you advocate for values such as integrity, trust, and openness, ensure that you embody those values.

5?? Speak with a pinch of humor ??: There's a common belief in corporate that being professional means being serious. However, incorporating lightheartedness and humor can demonstrate your humility, humanity, and overall goodness. The reality is that extended serious discussions can become uninteresting, and a well-timed joke can add a touch of ease to it. Make sure your humor doesn't involve personal criticisms, gender bias, or bullying of opinions or ideologies.

6?? Speak with engagement ??: Being an effective communicator involves not only speaking well but also being a keen listener. Instead of preparing your response while the other person is talking, genuinely focus on what they are saying. You'll receive the same level of attention you give, so stay receptive and engage with an open-minded approach.

7?? Speak with your body ??: Your body language is a key factor in expressing confidence. The way you move, gesture, and carry yourself sends subtle signals to your audience. Avoid shuffling or jerky movements, as they unintentionally convey nervousness and impact how your message is received.

Topic 2: ?? Being a technophobe in an AI Era?

The business environment is constantly filled with VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), and recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been a major contributor to this dynamism. The idea of AI has been present for decades, stemming from early discussions about creating machines capable of mimicking human intelligence. Recently, AI has rapidly altered our lives, reducing cognitive costs significantly and challenging the traditional importance of human creativity. It's even starting to understand human feelings, which could completely change how the world works, maybe even letting machines control everything.

Here's what might happen: there could be a change in how we work, with creativity becoming virtual, plans turning into actions, and work transforming in general. Are we ready for this? A recent study suggests that soon, there will be people "who work with AI" and "who don't".

1?? Be Friends with AI: Instead of seeing AI as a problem, let's work with it and get to know AI tools. Bring AI into your daily life and accept what comes out of it. Saying things like "AI can't do better than me" or "AI ruins human creativity" doesn't help. We've moved from traditional work to working with AI. Instead of seeing AI as a replacement, let's focus on how humans and AI can work together for better and more creative results. AI can help humans do things better, handle routine tasks, give useful insights.

2?? Learn about AI: Many people still see AI as something outside their regular work, and whether we should adapt to it remains a significant question. Some people are excited here, while others are waiting to see what happens. It's time to stop just talking about it and start using AI in our work. We still need to figure out the ethics and accuracy of using AI, so we should be aware of how to use AI responsibly.

3?? Emotions Matter: When we think about Emotional Intelligence, Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Judgment, Complex Problem-Solving, Adaptability and Flexibility, Ethical Decision-Making, and Social and Interpersonal Skills, there's still a competition between AI and humans. But it's important to ask yourself how good you are at these skills compared to AI. Being real in how you understand others, being kind, and handling complex social situations can make you stand out in the time of AI.

4?? AI Will Make New Jobs: Just like other technologies, AI will bring new jobs. But the number of new jobs may not be the same as the number of jobs that AI takes away. This is why it's important to be flexible, adaptable, and agile.

?? It's not about turning away from AI and its advancements; it's about understanding how AI integrates into our daily lives, work processes, and overall business benefit. The ability to adapt, collaborate, and uphold ethical practices will facilitate a smoother integration of AI into both personal and professional spheres.

Topic 3: Understanding Shu-Ha-Ri

Shu-Ha-Ri is a Japanese martial arts concept that has been adapted in the field of software development as a way of understanding how one progresses in mastery. The words Shu, Ha, and Ri represent three stages of progression:

1?? Shu - In this stage, the individual is a beginner and follows an established set of rules or practices without deviation. The emphasis is on learning the fundamentals and developing a basic understanding of the methodology.

2?? Ha - At this stage, the individual has gained a solid understanding of the methodology and can begin branching out and adapting techniques to suit their own needs. The emphasis is on experimentation and exploring new ideas.

3?? Ri - In this final stage, the individual has achieved mastery and can innovate and create new techniques or practices. The emphasis is on intuition and using instinct to guide decision-making.

By understanding these stages, individuals and teams can approach their work with a better understanding of their own level of expertise and what they need to do to progress to the next stage.
