Growth, transformation and legacy

8th December 2014 was the fifth anniversary of the day I incorporated my company Securus Health & Safety Limited. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, and that it appeared we might actually survive the mother of all recessions, I decided to treat Securus to a face-lift. 

I met with the fabulous Sarah Duffy of Red Hen Creative and she listened patiently whilst I twittered on about my career. I explained how discovering coaching skills had provided a much-needed shot-in-the-arm and transformed me as a safety practitioner. I’d ceased to be embarrassed, I said, at openly declaring that I wanted my professional legacy to be that I helped transform the health and safety profession for the better, through my work. 

I was astounded when, days later, she submitted her proposal for my new website and I saw that she’d captured the very essence of what I was about. And the image above blew my mind. I’ve christened it ‘Greetlands’ and it is quite simply the most striking and the most intelligent image I’ve seen on any website, ever. 

I’ll let you in to a secret – I’m not sure I understand what ‘Brand’ means but I do know I’m incredibly grateful to be associated with the images Sarah has provided and I can’t wait for the new website to go live in a few weeks’ time. And those expecting safety helmets and hi-vis vests can think again; the emphasis here is on growth and development and being the very best you can be.
