Growth, Stagnancy, and the Pursuit Of Improvement

I'd like to share some thoughts that have been resonating with me lately. Primarily around growth, stagnancy, and the pursuit of improvement.

I'm going heavy to make sure this year is our best year, meaning I'm being super critical of certain aspects... whilst going balls-deep on revenue-generating tasks.

One concept is both simple and profound one: in life, you're either moving forward or regressing; there's no such thing as standing still.

This principle applies universally, from the deterioration of unused muscles to the inevitable issues that arise from a car left parked for too long.

And you can guarantee it plays it's part in both your personal and business environments.

Let's face it, the comfort zone is a myth.

If you're not actively improving, you're passively deteriorating.

This truth isn't limited to physical or material aspects of our lives; it extends to our professional growth and financial well-being.

With inflation constantly on the rise, even maintaining the same salary over a decade effectively means you're earning less.

It underscores the necessity of continuous personal and professional development to not just keep up, but to get ahead.

Here are some ways you can keep a strong eye on the growth, whilst not getting too bogged down with it all:

  1. Prioritise Growth Daily: Aim for improvement, even if it's just 1% better each day. Over time, these small gains compound into significant progress.I have a spreadsheet where I track all the tasks that move the needle. I can see what percentage I am on for the week and how much more I need to do to finish the week strong. Maintaining this figure week in, and week out, brings in incredible results. If you want a copy of this spreadsheet, reply to this email and I'll send you a copy.
  2. Create Your Own Opportunities:
  3. Don't wait for external changes to improve your situation.
  4. Enhance your skills, add value to the marketplace, and you'll find you can command a better salary and more respect in your field.
  5. It's up to you to identify where the weaknesses lay and what could be improved... then find ways to do so, either through self-learning, courses or simply hiring in the skills.
  6. Negotiate Proactively:
  7. If you believe you deserve a higher salary, prepare to make your case. Be upfront and let your boss know that is what you want - then discuss a plan to make it happen.
  8. The same goes for your clients.
  9. Know your value, communicate it effectively, and be prepared to walk away if necessary.
  10. Not easy at the start, but build abundance and shit starts getting easier.
  11. But the first few require a fuck-ton of graft... and that's OK!
  12. Reject Victim Mentality:
  13. Adopting a mindset that you've run out of options only holds you back.
  14. Recognise that every step back can be a setup for a comeback.
  15. There have been a couple of times in my life when I hit rock bottom. Pretty much all down to me.
  16. It wasn't easy. It sucks.
  17. Not only the realisation that you've messed up but also the work needed to get out of the hole can be daunting.
  18. Seek help if needed. Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
  19. Action Over Inaction:
  20. Every day, do something that moves you forward.
  21. 97% of my daily tasks are needle-movers.
  22. I'm up at 4am, taking action within 5 minutes of my feet touching the ground.
  23. I appreciate that isn't for everyone nor am I spouting a morning routine that guarantees success. You do you.
  24. But to progress, you must prioritise action over inaction.
  25. Whether it's as simple as writing 500 words daily, making 10 cold calls, sending 25 personalized DMs or having an important conversation... these actions accumulate and drive you toward a better future.

Embracing continuous improvement and actively creating the future you want is not just advisable; it's essential.

As my favourite phrase goes, the world owes you shit. You have to earn your worth.

Don't let fear or complacency hold you back.

Start today, no matter how small the first step seems.

The path to success is paved with the bricks of daily efforts, and it's within your power to lay each one.

You know what you need to do...

You've got this! ??

As always, hope it helps,
