Growth or panic?

Growth or panic?

Day 3

As human beings we’re all tolerant to 10% swings - whether that’s positive or negative. The change model illustrates how being pushed further than our stretch zones where growth happens can send us into panic. When we feel overwhelmed we freeze and stop growing or working towards our goals. This is were your patients are when their goal is too large and needs to be broken down into smaller chunks.?

With coaching and goal setting, our aim is to grow, move forward and achieve sustainable change so it’s important to ask yourself and your patients how they feel about their goal. Use open questions to find out if their actions are either boring or too hard.?

For me, I enjoy small fitness challenges and trying new classes or sports so yesterday we decided to sign up to our first ParkRun to keep our couchto5K success going. It was great fun, and the best part?! We could run as a family with our 2 year old cheering us on. Knowing your core values (go back to day2 for more on values) helps keep your motivation levels high.?

So your task for day3 is to think about what questions you can ask patients in clinic around the comfort zone model to help your patients create sustainable change.
