  • Listen and learn more about the new market.
  • Educate and enable your sales team.
  • Build your reputation & brand.

Even though the ability to close an individual deal doesn't always rely exclusively on marketing, brand and narrative. Conquering a new market and mapping out a successful take to market strategy does.

  • Identify your ideal customer or tcp (target customer profile).
  • Close your first customers.
  • Make them your ambassadors & raving fans.
  • Rinse and repeat.

My SaaS company went from the dominant #1 player in one market into six others and that has proven to be a real challenge. I agree with what you’ve written and would add that choosing new markets carefully (make sure your core competence as a company fit well in the new vertical) is also a part of the equation.
