What Is a Growth Mindset? A growth mindset means believing that a person's abilities are not innate but can be improved through effort, learning, and, persistence. Those who thrive on challenges, and don't see failure as a way to describe themselves can use them as a springboard for growth and developing new abilities. Essentially your intelligence and talents are all susceptible to growth.
I recently had a conversation with a very close friend about her fears of taking on a new role and how she was afraid of learning new skills that she has not already mastered and it made me think of my own aptitude and desire to master new?skills.
I am quite the opposite, as I thrive on learning new skills, adapting, and devouring new data which has made it easier for me to grow my career along the way.
When I speak to her before her job interview later this week I will encourage her to look at learning as a new challenge that she will and can achieve and that any roadblocks she may encounter can be easily overcome, and are more of a tool to develop those new skills.
Fixed Mindset: I'm either good at something or I'm not.
Growth Mindset:?I can improve my skills with effort and practice.
The difference in your mindset on a daily basis can either set you on a path to success or stop you in your tracks. What do you choose?
