Growth

Yesterday, I had the unique opportunity to provide mentorship to another veteran interested in the entrepreneurship route. As we were talking, it reminded me of exactly how far I've come and where I am in my own journey.

That's a unique perspective. I've already started and now have skin in the game. It's strange to think that I'm a "seasoned" veteran at this small business game, but I am. 9 Months is an eternity to some and I have the scar tissue to prove it.

10 months ago, I could barely spell SEO let alone rattle off why it's important, what it does for your website, and how to be efficient at it while being a solopreneur. Now, I'm using my rather limited but hard-earned knowledge to help others understand why it's so important.

And so, I've spent a lot of time researching exactly how to do many of the tasks that a small business built on the internet can get off of the ground. Like many of you, I'm still learning.

I read something the other day that if you aren't looking back at yourself 6 months ago and cringing a bit at how little that version of you knew, then you aren't aggressively learning. One of the acronyms that still haunts me to this day thanks to the military is OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act). Consistently assess your environment and find gaps to help you make the proper decision. Once you've made it, go back and look at the results, then repeat the process.

So - here's my nugget of wisdom for you today. It comes from Twitter because that's where much of my startup knowledge, advice, and very specific technology tasks come from as of late.

5 things to put in your coffee from your pantry

Here are 5 super easy things to add to your morning coffee. Spice it up. Or don't. Like Burger King, have it your way.

Spices:

  • Add a?cinnamon stick?to the pot as you brew your coffee, or add a sprinkle of grounds to your cup.
  • Nutmeg?adds an earthiness with a hint of sweetness.
  • Ginger?is spicier than you might expect, and you can either add fresh slices to your cup or just a sprinkle of ground ginger.?
  • Clove?is another spice that will make you think of a chai latte. You can add a few of them to ground coffee before brewing for a touch of sweetness. This is especially good with Ethiopian coffee (*COUGH* MOAB *COUGH*)

Citrus - Citrus may seem like an odd flavor combination with coffee, but when added to iced coffee, it can be quite refreshing. Try adding the peels of lemon or lime to coffee, especially cold brew.

Butter - Next on our list of ways to add extra flavor to your coffee is butter. You may have heard of bulletproof coffee, which is adding fat and oil to coffee to provide lasting energy. Butter can be a great substitute for creamer, as it also adds richness to coffee. We also have a recipe for bulletproof coffee with MOAB.

Chocolate - This is a no-brainer. This is a favorite treat of many. Because coffee often already has flavor notes of chocolate, it makes a wonderful pairing.

Ice Cream or Honey - Unconventional sweeteners are great additions to coffee.

Spring means Fire Watch

Lots of great things in the store, but the most important is that Fire Watch medium roast coffee is 20% off all month long. It is perhaps the smoothest medium roast coffee I've ever had and doesn't have all the acidity or bitterness that some Colombian Supremo bean roasts seem to have. The aftertaste is wonderful.

Thank you for your continued support of what I'm doing.

I can't wait to show you where this idea of mine is going.

Man that looks like a gas. The man on the string sure has it made. What I would do to change places. Stay safe and enjoy.

Great read Michael! Some of those additions I would've never thought of, like citrus and butter. Things to try! Keep learning and growing, I'm excited to watch you grow!
