Recently, I came across this very well-written, clear and concise, article from Omri Drory, Ph.D.

A Scientific Approach to VC

There are two items I want to highlight and comment on:?

1. The first is that the fundraising landscape, especially for early stage companies, is much for vast than most entrepreneurs realize (especially science-based founders). Financial health is THE most important category to keep your company affloat; be aware of your options and don't put yourself into a box. In order to do this, you need to fully understand the landscape. Use resources like The First Time Founder's Equity Bible

2. Fundraising isn't as hard as you think, most of the time you're just not ready. So many times, founders tell me, "Our problem is that we don't have money." My response is simple, "Your problem is that you're not making money.". Very rarely will you ever receive any type of investment (especially from PE) without having a revenue stream. Investors look for the most lucrative investment opportunities, and proof of concept through revenue is just the starting point. Focus on getting to that "Magic Point" mentioned in the article, and fundraising BECOMES easy.?
