By 2024, Gartner predicts that global spends on the Cloud ?to be over USD 670 Billion and a trillion along with ?70%+ workloads running in the cloud by Decade end. GenAI, Application Modernization, Agility and Scalability are the major drivers. Although Analysts list out multiple number of strategies towards cloud adoption, most enterprises will fit into these two categories as Cloud-Adhoc and Clould-Experiements are strategic of the past -
1.???? Cloud-First Strategy
A cloud-first strategy involves prioritizing cloud computing solutions for IT infrastructure and services over on-premises alternatives. This approach leverages the advantages of cloud technology, including scalability, elasticity, automation, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. In essence, "cloud first" means opting for cloud-based solutions whenever possible, though organizations might still use on-premises solutions as needed.
·?????? Cloud-first applications benefit from the scalability of cloud platforms, allowing for resource expansion as demand grows.
·?????? Achieving full scalability and resilience may necessitate additional steps, such as redesigning certain components or implementing auto-scaling features.
Many Fortune 500 companies that originally relied on traditional Data Centers are now adopting this strategy.
Some organizations take a more cautious approach, known as the Cloud-Smart strategy, where stability and cost are prioritized over agility and flexibility.

2.???? Cloud-Native Strategy
The cloud-native approach involves designing and developing applications specifically for cloud environments. This method builds applications from the ground up to fully leverage cloud-native features, such as containerization, microservices, and serverless computing. These technologies allow applications to scale horizontally, automatically recover from failures, and adapt to fluctuating demands.
·?????? Cloud-native applications are built with scalability and resilience as fundamental principles.
·?????? Through containerization and microservices, these applications can scale individual components independently based on varying workloads.
·?????? They are also designed to handle failures effectively, utilizing cloud-native capabilities like auto-recovery and distributed load balancing.
Notable examples of companies employing a cloud-native strategy include Netflix , Airbnb , and Spotify , among other digital startups.
Do you see a different strategy in your company, ?your clients or eco-systems and whether they are working?
