A Vision for Change

Monika’s journey is defined by her relentless drive to evolve and contribute to the renewable energy space. In 2008, she enrolled in Power Systems Engineering followed by her internships in thermal power that exposed her to the diverse world of energy. This exposure sparked her realization of renewable energy's potential for lasting environmental impact. Monika's dedication to continuous learning and growth has defined her career, as she navigated challenging environments, pushed boundaries, and inspired fellow women to pursue similar paths.

Growth is not Gender Bias at Amplus

My role at Amplus marked a significant turning point in my career. I began in project management, transitioning from the wind energy sector to solar project execution, where I focused on contributing to the company’s rooftop solar initiatives.

Over the years, I have taken up various roles that have allowed me to grow professionally. I played a key role in integrating the ERP NAV system, which significantly enhanced our project management efficiency and accessibility. This initiative streamlined our workflows, enabling better collaboration among team members and improving overall project outcomes.

As I progressed, I took on leadership responsibilities within project execution teams, guiding efforts to deliver high-quality results while fostering an inclusive environment. Now, as a functional lead in project management and residential operations, I continue to advocate for a culture that values talent and nurtures growth for all employees.

Amplus provided me with the flexibility and support I needed to navigate my journey—from being a young professional to managing both my career and motherhood. With policies that promote work-life balance, I have been able to transition through different life stages, reflecting how an inclusive workplace can empower women to thrive while balancing personal responsibilities. I have been fortunate to receive growth opportunities and bigger roles even after maternity leave, which reinforces the idea that at Amplus, our capabilities and contributions are what truly matter.

Throughout my nearly 12 years in the execution field, I’ve come to appreciate that growth is not determined by gender but by merit and determination.

Creating a Path for More Women in the Industry

The renewable energy industry, like many technical fields, still has a long way to go in achieving complete gender parity. If we are to increase the representation of women, it’s crucial to focus on providing both opportunities and preferences based on merit. Beyond hiring, companies must make a deliberate effort to nurture young female workforce, giving them the tools, mentorship, and leadership development that they need to thrive. It’s not just about filling quotas—it’s about recognizing the potential in women and investing in them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

A focus on nurturing talent early, offering equal access to leadership roles, and ensuring support systems are in place will pave the way for women to make lasting contributions to the industry. I’ve been fortunate to thrive in a culture that values empowerment, where decisions are made based on merit, not gender. However, I also recognize that equality is a journey, and while we’ve made strides, there’s still much to be done to ensure women in engineering and leadership roles have the support and opportunities they deserve.
