The Importance of picking goals!

I try to exercise everyday on my treadmill and normally I do it for around 20 minutes. I realized in this new year that 20 minutes was not good enough. So yesterday, to break my habit (for we all are creatures of habits), I set a goal of 40 minutes and I did it. Not easy but I did it and felt better about it.

Most people do not have goals. We just do today what we did yesterday and just follow whatever life gives us. We are like a boat in the middle of the ocean just bobbling up and down on the waves, but when we do set a goal, we become like a boat going to our target on the shore.

Our minds normally give the average person around 70,000 thoughts a day. Which do you listen and follow? It is a challenge. But when you have a strong goal and strong determination the mind can be a little quieter (meditation also surely helps,) and you can be less scattered and direct your energy into being more productive.
