Growing your company has nothing to do with what goes on behind closed doors.

And everything to do with talking. What we can all learn from Technology companies.
Analysis
Things are up for discussion all the time. Whether it is to find the root cause of a system failure, the order of product development or lessons learned when projects complete. They are always analysing what can be done better, how to improve and where they could have done things differently.
Being brave enough to look at what could be done better means you will always learn something new. Ignoring faults, errors and failures just make the lessons harder to take the next time around. Plus in some cases escalates and makes the problems bigger.
Innovation
Building something unknown or better than what’s on the market takes guts, determination and resilience. Looking closely at not only what products or systems we have a need for but also what has never been achieved before.
So many Tech companies have set out to build one thing and ended up following a different path. That is the most exciting thing about being innovative – you never know where it will take you!
Openness
To learning, adapting and trying different approaches to everyday challenges. Agile has been a good tool to influence this shift in tech mindsets. Highlighting that behaviors, values, culture and thinking space play a big part in achieving the desired end results.
They know that change is part of the whole journey not just one part of the journey.
Customer and client feedback
They seek it out, in some instances before they even launch the product or systems, through UAT and trials with potential clients. The Lean Start-up by Eric Ries outlines this approach very nicely in his book. MVP’s mean you don’t actually have to have an IT system or product in place before the service launches.
You can never know what is going to work and take off unless you ask the people using the system or product. What you think works and has a need in the market place could be completely not what your client or customer base needs – hence the tech world adopting CX (customer experience) Plus why would you not involve potential clients and customers from the start?
What approach would benefit your business more? This is why I work with more technology companies, they align with my coachability requests, not just because it was my previous career. They are open (to new learning), driven (entering the unknown) and committed (they will stay the course).
