Growing Up Indian. Meet Astha Chopra.
Growing up, Astha Chopra wanted to defy the stereotypes of her Indian heritage. She shares, “Instead of embracing what makes us special, I was more concerned with defying the generalization. I do still believe in the beauty of what makes us all unique, but a shared culture is something to enjoy and take in.”
Astha is the Chief of Staff to ChenMed’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gordon Chen. Her job is to support the execution of projects from the clinical team and to represent the CMO and the team accurately and credibly. She’s been with the company for a little over a year. When she’s not working to keep the team in check, she is enjoying the beauty and richness of her Indian culture, including its colorful expression and rich and delicious dishes.
“My culture and family centers me as I take on new adventures in life. I know I always have a family that loves me and is proud of me. I also know they inspire me every day and are one of the main reasons I love my life,” Astha shares.
She’s worked in various healthcare roles in the past, but to become the Chief of Staff to a leading primary care company is definitely something to be proud of. She believes the relationships she has been able to build and the positive relationship with herself have helped her get to where she is today. If there is one advice she could share, it’s this: “Feelings and thoughts cannot be controlled; only actions can be controlled.”
