GROWING THROUGH PRUNING.

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE:

? John 15:2 ?

"He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

HOLY SPIRIT, HAVE YOUR WAY.

Today our LORD, Jesus Christ uses the metaphor of a grapevine to describe our relationship with Him. He is the true vine, and we are the branches. As any good gardener knows, pruning is a vital process for promoting growth in a plant. Dead or unhealthy branches must be removed, and even fruitful branches need trimming to become more productive.

The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. Christ, the Master Gardener, continually works to cut away the dead weight, unhealthy patterns, and fruitless habits that hinder our growth and spiritual vitality. This pruning process is not always comfortable - in fact, it can feel quite painful at times as He cuts away things we've become attached to. But it is necessary, so that we can bear maximum fruit for His kingdom.

Even when we are faithfully abiding in Christ and bearing spiritual fruit, He keeps on pruning and shaping us. The Father prunes "every branch that does bear fruit" so that we will become even more fruitful, more like Christ. As difficult as it is, we can trust that these pruning seasons serve an important purpose in conforming us to the image of God's Son.

So have hope! When you undergo painful pruning, know that your Master Gardener has a purpose and a plan. He loves you deeply and wants you to experience abundant spiritual fruitfulness and life. Embrace the pruning process as part of your growth. Amen.
