When Global Chamber recently held the third annual Semiconductor Summit in Phoenix, we got a glimpse of the quicly growing interest from Semiconductor companies to establish themseleves here.
Among the speakers were Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix, Chris Camacho, CEO of Greater Phoenix Economic Council, and Kelly Moore, the honorary consul for Japan in Arizona, and representatives from companies like Intel and Toshiba. Speakers and participants from Sweden, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Mexico, Israel and the EU attended.
The CHIPS Act, a funding package aimed at expanding domestic semiconductor production, is a crucial part of President Biden's industrial policy. Under this act, $52 billion will be allocated towards semiconductor manufacturing and research to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and strengthen America's position in the global market. Industry and government leaders are making a bid to bring that money to Arizona.
