A Growing Problem No Organization Can Ignore

A Growing Problem No Organization Can Ignore

Ransomware attacks are spreading like wildfire, up 59% in just the last year, according to Checkpoint Research. But that’s not even the worst news...

These attacks are also growing in sophistication, making end runs around the most advanced defenses. ?It is tempting to cross your fingers, work hard on your security, and believe that if you do everything right, you will not get hit.

But this is an all-too-common misconception. Even the corporations that do everything right, and have massive resources to invest heavily in the latest cybersecurity, can still get breached. At the time of this writing, we’ve witnessed recent well-publicized attacks on Marriott, Nvidia, and even the government of Costa Rica, to name only a few.

If these organizations aren’t immune, you can be sure no one is. Why is this happening, and what can you do to protect your organization?

Layered Defense: There are many different layers of defense that an organization needs to have in place to help secure its assets. These include Authentication and access controls, Endpoint security, Forensic tools, Security Operations Center, Network Monitoring, Email Filtering, Backup tools, and Training, just to name a few.

Unfortunately, not all companies have the expertise or the ability to fully enable all these layers. But what is more painful is that even corporations that have all these layers of protection enabled are still getting hit with ransomware. But why is that??

?Understanding an attack: Adversaries understand?how security products work and use several different techniques to ensure their malicious programs are fully undetected. Some experts estimate that there are more than 1 million new unique malware files released each day. With odds like these stacked against the “good guys,” it’s almost a certainty some bad actors are going to get past even the best defenses. This means all businesses need to have a recovery strategy in place ahead of time, for the eventuality of an attack.

So, the question now becomes: what can be done to best protect your corporation from the effects of a ransomware attack, so you can come away relatively unscathed?

NeuShield Lets you Outsmart the Attackers: NeuShield offers a simple new way to beat ransomware attackers at their own game. ?Their effective approach to data protection and rapid recovery essentially creates a thin mirror image of the data within an undetectable overlay that acts as armor.?

This way, the attacker believes they are stealing or altering your data, but in reality, only gets access to change data within the overlay. The original data is preserved and protected and can be restored with just a few clicks, unlike the much slower process of restoring from backup. This approach can save your organization days or weeks of costly downtime, while at the same time thwarting ransomware demands.

All this said, NeuShield is not a replacement for other defensive cybersecurity solutions but makes a welcome and seamless addition to a multilayered security stack.

Bottom line: Ransomware is a lucrative and growing business that is not going away. Since no cybersecurity defenses are infallible, you need to be ready to bounce back fast if and when you get hit. A simple-to-deploy solution like Neushield could be just the insurance policy you need.
