Growing, Learning, Leading: Alex Belu’s Career Journey at Huawei GSC Romania

My name is Alex Belu and my journey into the world of technology began during my high school years when I was captivated by the allure of the technical field. Informatics, mathematics, and physics became my favorite subjects, sparking a lifelong fascination with the intricate workings of the world.

Despite graduating from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, my enduring passion for technology led me down a different path, specifically into the telecommunications field. It was here that I found my true calling.

My journey into the telecom world commenced a decade ago when I embarked on an exploration of the physical layer of telecom networks. Over the years, I've had the privilege of gaining invaluable experience in this dynamic field.

Eight years ago, I took a significant step in my career by joining Huawei, a global leader in telecommunications. In this role, I assumed the responsibilities of a Site Design Engineer, where I was entrusted with the critical task of ensuring the efficient and effective design of telecom sites.

One of the key attributes that define me is my extroverted nature. This quality has allowed me to establish and maintain exceptional relationships not only with my colleagues in the telecom department but also with professionals across various domains within the organization.

Throughout my tenure at Huawei, I've had the privilege of contributing to a diverse array of projects for different operators, each presenting its unique set of challenges and opportunities. My versatility and adaptability have been put to the test, and I've thrived in this dynamic environment.

In addition to my role in site design, I had the opportunity to broaden my horizons by spending some time in the Wireless department. This experience enriched my knowledge and allowed me to make valuable contributions to a broader spectrum of telecom technologies.

My journey within Huawei has been marked by dedication and continuous growth. I am proud to say that my dedication to my work has been rewarded with a consistent upward trajectory in my career. I progressed from a simple engineer to assuming the responsibilities of a Project Technical Leader (PTL), and eventually with the help of my team I reached the esteemed position of Team Leader (TL).

As a TL, I am fortunate to work with a group of dedicated individuals who continuously help me grow in my role. Each team member brings unique skills, perspectives, and ideas that challenge me to think critically and improve my leadership approach. They provide valuable feedback, share their expertise, and collaborate openly, which allows me to make better decisions and foster a more productive work environment. Their support and trust empower me to develop stronger communication and problem-solving abilities, ultimately making me a better leader. Together, we create a culture of continuous improvement, both as individuals and as a team
