Curious to find out what employees’ value most when it comes to mental health initiatives in their workplaces, myosh recently run a poll on LinkedIn asking the question, "Which mental health initiative would you value most in your workplace?"
A staggering 73% of respondents placed the highest value on "Mental Health Days Off," indicating a strong desire for policies that allow employees to take breaks specifically for mental health reasons. Unlike traditional sick leave, which is often reserved for physical ailments, mental health days off acknowledge that mental health is just as critical to an employee's overall well-being and productivity.
In contrast, other mental health initiatives received considerably less preference, with only 5% of respondents valuing "Access to counselling services" the most. While access to professional help is crucial for addressing mental health issues, the relatively low percentage could suggest that employees might prioritise preventive over reactive measures. Alternatively, it could indicate a need for better communication about the benefits of counselling services or possibly a desire for more immediate and accessible forms of support.

"Mental Health Training" was valued most by 8% of the participants. This initiative focuses on educating employees and management about mental health, aiming to foster a supportive and understanding workplace culture. The relatively low percentage could imply that while education is valued, it is not seen as the most critical need by the majority of the poll participants.
