Growing Global: Is Your Concept Ready to Expand Overseas?

Growing globally is the pinnacle of success for any brand. After proving your concept at a local, regional, and national level, expanding globally is the next step to cementing your place as an international leader within your industry.

However, getting your brand to this step is no easy feat. Between establishing a new customer base, navigating international laws, and finding the right growth-oriented partners, it takes a dedicated team to traverse the road to becoming a global company.

As the leader of the fast casual chicken segment, Dave’s Hot Chicken has established its market dominance with more than 120 locations open and another 750+ restaurants in development. Global expansion helped establish our brand as the go-to choice for fast casual Nashville hot chicken and has played a role in our monumental first few years of franchising, beginning in Canada and then expanding to the Middle East.

Is Your Brand Ready?

Once you have demonstrated that your business has accomplished a successful track record in its home country’s development, one of the first questions you must answer is whether your business is suited to succeed in international markets. You should begin your research into all the key success drivers in the markets you are targeting.

Extending a brand globally through franchising can offer a huge upside potential for scaling capabilities, but you should also evaluate whether expansion is beneficial, or if it will only take away from your core business.

In Dave’s Hot Chicken’s case, our 2020 deal with franchisor John Bitove and restaurant group Obelysk Foods Ltd., is set to develop twenty-five locations throughout Canada. They currently operate four restaurants in Toronto and have four more slated to open this year. Our 2022 deal with franchisor Walid Hajj and restaurant group Lavoya is set to pioneer our growth overseas with 31 locations throughout the Arabian Gulf Region, including in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.?They currently operate three locations with three more slated to open this summer. This is only the beginning of our international footprint.

On a mission to deliver our take on Nashville hot chicken to markets around the world, Dave’s Hot Chicken understands what it takes to rise to the top in the fast-casual sector.
