Growing the future of sustainable agriculture and food system through innovation – together with our partners!

As largely analysed in the?IPPC report?and discussed in the?27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27)?in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, the alarming consequences of climate change are affecting all countries worldwide. In the meantime, several countries at international level have already opened their doors to new plant breeding methods and innovation, particularly helpful during the present period where food security and sustainable production are at stake due to the Russian war in Ukraine, the fluctuating prices and the terrible impacts of climate change.

In this context, the European seed sector has a golden opportunity to demonstrate its value and active contribution to the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of farming and food system by producing robust, more adapted and climate-tolerant varieties in a quicker way.

A vision for the European seed sector

Seeds?are the foundation of our?agriculture?and?food.

As a result, the European seed sector is committed to support scientific advances, technology, and innovation offering the best possible seeds to European citizens and future generations by strengthening collaboration and partnerships with all the different actors of the agri-business sector.?We want to join efforts with our members and partners for increasing sustainable food production and feeding the growing world population in a sustainable way.

By ‘Embracing the Power of Nature’, Euroseeds has been raising awareness of the importance of plant breeding innovation and benefits of the latest plant breeding methods to encourage an appropriate European regulatory and policy environment which could unlock its potential. Learning from the success of this initiative, Euroseeds and its partners?want to engage with a broader public and spread science-based information and fun facts about food quality and health, food security, sustainability, biodiversity and environmental protection, economic competitiveness?with innovation as a driving force.

…We want to ‘Grow the future – together’ by seeding innovation, sustainability, food security, collaboration, partnerships and much more!

I agree, the European seed sector provides solutions for more sustainablility in agriculture and food industry. No doubt about this!! But: Are the breeding companies themselves changing their organisations towards more sustainable management? How is this documented or even certified? I'll help you getting started to continiuos sustainable management to small and mid-sized entreprises...
