Grateful. I'm grateful every day for having spent a portion of this past summer building what I believe is an essential building block for today's B&I context. The "Trauma Informed Family Support" certificate program at Oklahoma Christian University may be what your leadership or team members need to provide insights into our 21st century world of work.
Here are a few talking points I usually share when discussing the program for employee or leadership development plans:
- To complete the certificate, a person will work through three courses: A) Family Trauma and Resilience; B) Basic Therapy Skills; and, C) Parenting and Relationship Education (taught through a trauma-informed lens).
- The courses are self-paced, and can be spread out for your own schedule. Although the full course is $3,000 total, only $1,000 will be billed at the time you begin each course.
- A professor with skills in the content area will provide support and guidance to you through the process.? You can email them with questions any time; they’ll be monitoring your assignments and providing feedback. In other words, the course is self-guided but help is just a click away.
- For larger groups, we’re glad to talk about the possibility of discounts. And, for very large groups, we can assign your own instructor and lead the group through as a cohort if you wish.
- Finally, these courses are substantive and are taught at the graduate level. Therefore, if at a later time someone with a certificate decides to enter graduate school at OC, the certificate program will be reviewed and considered as counting toward some level of graduate hours, or a plan will be created to complete a course with minimum investment and then count toward your graduate program.
- Any person with a bachelor’s degree can apply. The program is especially recommended for leaders, first responders, ministers, bachelor’s level helping professions, healthcare professionals, non-profit agency staff, child and family professionals, etc.
