If you're already at $10k months and happy with your business growth then this newsletter probably isn't for you.
But if you're not yet at $10k months or have hit a plateau in your business growth then you definitely want to take a couple of minutes and read through this entire newsletter.
The basic principles of growing a business are really simple.
Not necessarily easy though.
Especially when the human brain has a tendency to want to complicate things
It's like the brain says "nahhhh, it can't be this simple... let's see how we can make this as complicated as possible..."
Then walks in overthinking, uncertainty, doubt, fear and all those other not-so-fun human experiences.
So today I wanted to run through the 4 basic foundations any coach, consultant or expert needs to have in place to grow their business.
1. A real expertise and/or experience
You need to have expertise and/or experience in a certain area and?have the ability to solve a problem of some kind for someone.
You DON'T need a university degree or any other pieces of paper that say how clever you are (a.k.a. certifications)
(those are nice to have but for those of you who keep collecting certifications and courses because you feel you're not qualified enough... stop! You're in a stopping strategy because you're held back by fear & it's not real...)
You just need to be a few steps ahead of the people you want to help in terms of knowledge, skills & experience. If this is you, you already have everything you need within you to grow your business to the "magical" six-figure mark and beyond
(side note: I have no idea why "six-figures" became such a big thing for business coaches to market other than the fact that when you're earning $10k every month it certainly does make life a lot more comfortable)
2. A clear and compelling offer
After having expertise & experience your?offer is the most important business foundation.
I cannot stress this enough.
What you sell a.k.a.?your OFFER can make or break a business.
If you are not clear on what you're selling, there's no way any potential clients will know that what you're offering is for them.
And if you don't have confidence that you can meet your client's expectations and deliver the result or transformation they are looking for it will be very, very hard to sell.
The best kind of offer is one that will help your market with something they are already looking for help with.
(Yes, you can educate and convince people that they need your help but this is a long & exhausting road to walk. It's MUCH easier to sell something your market already wants)
You can help them solve a problem they can't solve on their own
You can lead them through a transformation
You can take things off their very full plate & save them time
You can make them money
You can show them how to make more money
You can teach them something
Hint: if you can't find other people offering what you offer then this is a red flag because chances are no one wants it.

3. An audience
You need an audience so you have people to sell to.
No audience = no sales.

This one seems pretty obvious but you'd be surprised how many people I've spoken to over the years who are shocked & dismayed they aren't booking clients when the total sum of their audience is 200 Facebook friends who are made up of mostly real-life friends & family with a few network marketers in between.
You don't want any old audience, but an audience filled with potential prospects. So only add people who look like they could potentially become a client one day.
My?strong?recommendation is for you to focus on building an audience on one or two social media platforms AND?build an email list?at the same time. Your social platforms could get shut down at any time but if you have an email list you can create a new social account and just email everyone to follow you there.
Hint: The fastest way to grow an audience is to borrow other people's audiences. Think podcasts & Facebook groups.
4. A clear "brand" presence
By this, I don't mean fancy graphics, professional photos or perfectly chosen colours. All of this can come later when you have a budget available for professional branding.
What I do mean by this is that you want your positioning & messaging to be obvious to new people entering your social media/email world so that potential clients can easily see who you help, how you help and what you can help with.
You can do this with your cover image, bio &?content.
It's kinda pointless sending out Facebook friend requests & LinkedIn connection requests to build your audience if there's?nothing on your profile?that tells these people about your business and what you do.
Most of them will just ignore your request.

Those are the 4 main foundations for building & growing a business.
If your business has hit a plateau and you're not booking the number of clients you desire every month then go through each of these points from your market's point of view and see what needs adjusting or what you need to start doing more of.
