The speed of 3D printers to increase by 50-100X

3D printing rates have typically been limited by (1) The amount of force a printhead can apply, (2) How fast the material gets heated to induce flow, and (3) how quick the printhead itself can move. In a project by MIT Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity, they created a printer 10 times faster than traditional desktop models and 3 times faster than a $100,000 industrial-scale system. Achieving record speeds, the MIT team printed a helical bevel gear in a mere 10 minutes, and a pair of eyeglass frames in only 3.6 minutes.

Studies from the MIT Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity demonstrated 3D printed antimicrobial surgical forceps. This gives us an inference to prepare for the emergence of 3D printing in fashion arts like jewelry, shoes, automobiles, aircraft parts, kitchen & households, and other prototypes. 3D metal printers will not only eliminate waste in manufacturing, but also create more lightweight parts. Biodegradable cellulose might turn as a promising alternative to plastics in 3D printers of the future.

Yaa, Every method has its own perfection, there are so many methods to manufacture(e.g casting, forging so & so) But everything isn't casted or forged, as of this 3D printing has its own uniqueness, best for unit production & making prototypes & obviously which are not produced in mass.

3D printer is surely will be pivotal in future, as it produces lighter weight components in a faster and accurate way, according to design. Recently Bhugati made first 3D printed brake calipers for the Chiron. Very accurate and lighter in weight.
