Grow your Talent Pipeline with the Green Hive Careers Day!

If you haven’t heard of it already, the Green Careers Week is a new and exciting national initiative dedicated to raising awareness for Net Zero jobs and Green career pathways. The GCW is here to support diversity, challenge stereotypes, and promote the incredible opportunities emerging for young people to have a career that will make a positive impact on the world we live in.

This year’s Green Careers Week commences on the 7th of November, running through to the 12th. Primarily it’s here to serve the education sector, young people and their parents in getting to grips with emerging technologies and careers within Green Skills – as well as enabling businesses to expand their networks and fill current skills gaps by meeting the talent of the future.

So, what is a Green Job?

A green career falls under any job, role or occupation that contributes to helping preserve the environment and our planet. These green careers are growing super-fast within the global employment sector. Meaning everyone is required to work together to build a talent pool from schools through to employment for the thousands of jobs and roles needed for the future.

Green careers reach into every aspect of our lives and offer young people an exciting array of opportunities. There are green careers and green skills suitable for everyone.

In celebration of Green Careers Week, on Tuesday 8th November we will be hosting our new Green Hives Career Day in collaboration with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.

The RE:geon Green Hive Careers Day has been developed to create a buzz around Green Skills in the North East specifically within the Construction and Social Housing. We know that there is a serious demand and increasing skills gap for Green qualified and skilled workers across the region so by hosting an event of this kind, we hope to connect local employers with new and emerging talent to find out more about one another as well as the opportunities that lay on the horizon.

Why is the Green Hive Careers Day SO important?

In 2020, there were fewer than 1,000 employees in the North East specialising in Construction Green Skills. Our Net Zero target is to reach closer to 80,000 employees by 2030! How are we going to get there??Through education, engagement and uniting as one.

The challenge, however, comes in the fact that young people across the nation (specifically within the North East), have little awareness of green and renewable careers. For example, only two out of 575, year 11 students interviewed in a recent study were planning a career in Clean Energy, Low Carbon and Hydrogen related professions.

The importance to captivate and educate these young minds on green careers couldn’t be stronger, and that’s where the Green Hive Careers Day comes in.

The Details…

Our half-day event will be delivered as an educational session which will provide businesses with the opportunity to meet young and emerging talent who are aspiring towards roles within Construction. With the hope to engage and connect with potential future employees.?

The Green Hive Careers Event will be held at The Clarion Hotel in East Boldon on Tuesday 8th November. The event will be split into 2 sessions so that we can hold space for as many engagements as possible! Session 1 will start at 9am, finishing at 11:30am, and will be geared towards students aged 15-16. While session 2 starting at 11:30am and closing at 1pm, is for slightly older students aged 17-18.

More on the event can be found?here.
