Grow Your Safety Thinking in 2022

G'day!

Welcome to the first Newsletter from GYST Consulting. Over the coming months we'll be featuring news, research and strategies designed to help our readers to grow their safety thinking in 2022.

Please let us know if there are any specific topic areas you would like us to discuss, and we'll be happy to address them in the subsequent newsletter.

News

Despite COVID-19's best efforts, GYST Consulting was still able to facilitate our flagship "Care Factor Program" to many clients here in Australia and overseas via a mixture of face-to-face, virtual and hybrid programs. It seems Omicron's current spread may see us using these flexible delivery methods into 2022, although face-to-face delivery is always recommended for those who don't mind waiting a little while.

Last month we celebrated 10 years of running the Care Factor Program - the first program?was rolled out in Darwin for Bam Clough on the Ichthys project, with brilliant results. The program has evolved alongside relevant research over the decade yet at its heart remains a system for organizations to create the trust and psychological safety required for people to speak up, report hazards and share ideas.

SafePsych

In 2022 we are proud to offer the SafePsych Program, which focusses more specifically on creating psychologically-safe teams across many industries, not just the high (physical) risk sectors we have primarily worked with. Evidence-based, practical and engaging, we're really looking forward to sharing this program with current and new clients.

Best Selling Book

My book "Next Generation Safety Leadership: From Compliance to Care" has been an Amazon best-seller in many countries, and has been featured in many safety magazines and safety conferences. I have facilitated webinars with several companies who provided their leaders with a copy, then discussed the contents and reflection questions with me as a team afterwards - these have been very productive sessions, and have enabled many clients to set a clear direction for "next steps' on their safety journey, particularly when used as a supplementary source of embedding during/after a Care Factor Program rollout. Let us know if this is something you'd like to pursue.

The book can be purchased in Hardback, Paperback or ebook (kindle) versions from Amazon or other online retailers (Purchase from Amazon here ).

Recent article in SafeGuard Magazine (NZ)

My recent article, "Creating Psychological Safety: Moving Beyond the Fruit Bowl!" was recently published in the excellent SafeGuard magazine, and can be found here .

Thanks!

Ok, just let us know if there's anything we can do to help your company grow its safety thinking and performance - I'll see you in February!

Thanks for the invitation Clive. I enjoyed reading your book a while ago and often pick it up as a refresher! Specific future topics? Something centered around creating a psychological safe environment in the social media world. There’s several thought leaders I have a lot of time for, they see through the good olde safety snakeoil stuff, big on trust, care, psychological safety….however, some of their harsh social media ‘critique’ potentially stifles some folks from contributing, and works against the very principles they believe in.
