Grow your Network and Foster Relationships in Europe by contacting Ireland’s ECRIN European Correspondent

ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) facilitates researchers to set up and conduct multinational Investigator-Initiated Clinical Studies in Europe by linking with ECRIN’s national European Correspondents and the national networks of clinical trial units. Ireland has been an ECRIN member since 2018, so researchers in Ireland can benefit from the full range of services for multinational clinical studies provided by the Network.??

What can ECRIN do for you and what does it cost??

The ECRIN country membership provides multiple advantages including full access to ECRIN management and consultancy services. Provided at no additional cost, these services support countries to achieve ECRIN’s mission of developing and implementing multi-site, multinational clinical trials.??

The clinical operations services offered by ECRIN staff for academics and SMEs can provide overarching support to sponsors and investigators from their first contact through to the close out of their clinical study. Ireland is an active ECRIN member and several Irish Projects such as the VACCELERATE project and EU-COVAT-2 BOOSTAVAC? trials have been successfully enabled by the network.?

The image below outlines the different ways in which ECRIN can support multinational clinical studies with more information available on the ECRIN website.??

ECRIN Network?

The ECRIN core offices are based in Paris with a national scientific partner in each of the 13 Member or Observer European Countries (Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland (HRB-NCTO), Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain are full Members, and Slovakia is an Observer). This network consists of over 130 clinical trial units (CTU’s) with access to 361 million European citizens, and already supports a clinical study portfolio of 75 multinational studies across a range of disciplines and disease areas.?

What are EuCos and how can they help??

Each member country of ECRIN is represented by at least one European Correspondent (EuCo) with deep knowledge of their national research landscape and training and experience in ensuring efficient management of multinational studies. These European Correspondents work collectively as a trans-national team and hence are a key communication link for national investigators and researchers in their home nations to the resources and expertise of the full European membership.?

How can clinical researchers connect with ECRIN??

If you are an organisation, SME or researcher interested in seeking potential collaborators or being connected to experts with experience in your area of clinical research in other European countries, the first step is to contact your national European Correspondent. The EuCo’s can provide a detailed breakdown on the services that ECRIN provides and how they could benefit sponsors, investigators, or researchers. EuCo’s can link in with their network of fellow European Correspondents in member countries to coordinate with local Clinical Trial Units who may be available to participate in the study. For Ireland, the ECRIN European Correspondent is Niall Hore, part of the HRB-NCTO team.?
