"Grow Your Business With Professional And Authentic Podcasting"

Summary/Abstract

Phil and Jeff had a conversation about podcasting and how it can be used to grow a business and a personal brand. Phil emphasized the importance of authenticity and how it is more important than professionalism. He explained that podcasting can help people build trust with their audience, as it allows them to share their expertise, tips and tricks. Podcasting can also help people learn more about their ideal audience and how to best target them. Jeff noted how millennials and gen Z don't trust businesses like they used to, and podcasting can help to build that trust. To summarize, podcasting can be a great way to build trust with your audience, grow your business, and learn more about your target market.

The conversation is about how podcasting can be used as a marketing tool. The speaker explains that by giving away knowledge and expertise for free, people will start to trust the brand, and they will become loyal to it. This trust is valuable and can lead to people booking calls with the brand. The speaker also mentions that it is a lot of work to create a podcast and that the proper equipment is needed.

The speaker is a professional podcaster and has the necessary equipment for a high-quality podcast. However, they acknowledge that a podcaster with far less equipment can still make an impact. The example given is of someone who records in their car while driving and still receives thousands of downloads due to the value they offer their audience. The speaker's main point is that even with minimal equipment, you can still make an impact and build authority if you provide value and keep your call to action simple.

In this conversation, the speaker explains the importance of having a clear call to action when podcasting. They explain that people don't understand the industry, and so they don't know how to support it. To make it easier to support, they should have one simple call to action that tells their listeners exactly what they should do. For example, they could tell their listeners to follow them on one specific social media platform. This way, the listeners can easily support them and the podcaster will have a way to market to them. The speaker also explains that a lot of big brands spend a lot of money on media but a lot of podcasters have had success with just using their iphone and being authentic. This generation looks for authenticity, and so they are more likely to support someone who is genuine rather than a brand that doesn't always follow through with their promises.

Highlights

You have ad spend for near $0. That's bringing you money over time. You even can help promote the podcast by having their qr code going, hey, support our podcast, or support the podcast we support. Listen to the podcast we support in your store. And then people are going to be like, oh, you have a podcast. Because podcasts are going to be the next generation of radio. They're the next generation of media.. YouTube channels are the next TV. Our kids are growing up with YouTube just like I grew up with TV. YouTube is the next and then the next one is going to be VR and so forth and so forth. What you have to look for as a marketer, as a business owner, is looking at how can I work with the next generation of media so that I can benefit? That's all it is.

Yeah. And the beautiful thing is it goes back to the best form of growing your business and that's word of mouth. Because when you're advertising in podcasts, a lot of times it's not the same as advertising on the radio. Advertising on radio. It starts with a commercial break and then they have a break. But a podcast advertisement can be as simple as somebody just mentioning, hey, the other day I went to this restaurant and they had the most amazing food.

So imagine if you go to an individual podcast that's in your local area, your mom and pop restaurant or your small business, a hardware store or something like that, and you find a podcast that talks to your ideal audience. It's a food loving podcast. Hey, you're a restaurant might as well sponsor this podcast. Or it's a Home depot type rental podcast and you're a hardware store. Give them $100. Now they're reading your ad at the beginning, middle, or end of the podcast. Wherever you guys decide, they're giving your trust. The host is giving their trust that they built up to their audience with their audience saying, hey, you should check out this restaurant. You should check out this business because X, Y and Z, they can help you.

If you don't want to do the podcast, you go find a local podcast in your area and you sponsor them. They'll take like $100 a month. Like, it's way cheaper than Facebook ads because at $100 they can take and then they can put it into the quality of their podcast. Now their podcast is going up, but that they put an ad every episode they have an ad for you. And this will be the last thing before we sign off because I know you like to keep them tight, but if you think about it, a release just got out. Out of the population of the Us that listen to podcasts, 97% of them have taken action on ads they hear on podcasts.

But that podcast, if you're not ready to go to the high ticket, the podcast gives you the authority because you're listening to this podcast, you've read the book, you're hearing his voice constantly and saying, hey, go to my website. Go to my website, go to my website. At the end of the episode, it's, Go to my website, check me out on my website, check me out on my website. You go to the website, you're going to end up buying the stuff going to end up moving because you you've gained the trust and you've learnt from him and how to do the steps necessary to afford his next level, okay? And it's that simple. That's what your podcast can do.
