Stop trying to make 'fetch' a thing when 'cool' is already a word.

I used to be big on Twitter.

Ah...the gold old days...

When I first started tweeting, there were a lot of ways for a comedian like myself to grow.

There was a show called @Midnight that ran 'hashtag wars', in which everyone made a joke about one premise. The best jokes were featured.

I would crush those! Each retweet got me a few hundred new followers.

Now, I'll be generous and say Twitter isn't as 'stand-up comedian friendly' so much as it's a place for bots to share extreme political positions for engagement farming.

If I was still trying to be a stand-up comedian, I could continue to promote Twitter to attract more paying fans with my 14,000 followers.

But then, I wouldn't be growing where the sun shines.

I wouldn't be focusing my energy on the best place to grow meaningfully.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should always focus on the largest platform.

Upcoming platforms with less competition for eyeballs and tighter communities are great places to go from 'zero to one'.

But don't turn your back on large platforms because they're crowded.

If you're a game streamer, there's a good reason to stay on Twitch.

Fans of game streaming are overwhelmingly on Twitch.

But if you're starting, there's a good reason to go to Kick.

There are fewer streamers on Kick, so you have a better chance to stand out.

And if you're a Gen Z game streamer playing mobile games, there's a good reason to stream on TikTok.

The kinds of Gen Z people that like mobile games are more likely to be on TikTok than Twitch.

You're growing where the sun shines.

So my mission for you: take a moment to weigh your goals as a creator against your platform focuses.

Are you not growing because the platforms are too crowded? Is your audience not there? Is the platform itself a dud?

If you realize you're spending outsized energy on a platform that isn't optimal for your growth stage, consider a change.

That took 2 minutes. You have 8 minutes left. Now go outside, look at the sun, and grow 1% right now!

Brands and creators: crush bots with my sponsor EarnOS!

Humans will prevail!

How are creators of any size getting paid by Uber, Sunglass Hut, and Baskin Robbins?

And how are those brands getting assured, validated, non-bots to engage with their brand?

The answer to both is EarnOS, a platform that uses first-party validation techniques to ensure that every like, newsletter follower, and video view is real.

And pays creators handsomely to help with this mission, to the tune of $1.4m to date.
