Grow up, please

The latest attempt to embarrass and inconvenience people with different opinions is called “swatting.” The White House is the latest “target.” Here is a paragraph that helps explain swatting:

“The White House on Monday became the latest victim of a growing US problem of ‘swatting’: the summoning of large numbers of law enforcement personnel and other first responders to a hoax emergency incident.”

Please grow up. It matters not the party you belong to or the perceived veracity of your argument. This is not civil discourse. It is childish and not unlike a temper-tantrum. Democrats, Republicans and (I am certain) other groups are guilty of using the approach. It costs money and resources and someone could get hurt, by this or somewhere else, as fewer resources are available for a real crisis.

Just like a politician using name calling, labelling, bullying or worse, threatening violence, this is not exemplary behavior. The threatening of violence is criminal in my view as there are some who will listen to fools that use it. When I see these tactics used, I stop reading or listening as the user has no argument. Facts are important. Civil discourse matters. Name calling does not meet either requirement. Neither does swatting.
