Group-Level Intervention: DEIB

When considering group-level interventions to help clients improve performance, there are several effective strategies that a consultant can employ.?For example,?Training and Development Programs, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives?Change Management Strategies.?

Implementing group-based training programs to enhance specific skills or knowledge relevant to the client's performance goals can be conducted through workshops, seminars, or online courses tailored to their needs. An example includes a training and development program centered on cultural awareness can establish opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration within the leadership population. This example of group-level intervention will enhance leaders' understanding of diverse cultural norms and values through interactive exercises, case studies, and discussions that encourage participants to explore their cultural biases and assumptions. Research shows that group-based training can “improve self-confidence, motivation, the understanding of others’ perspectives, verbal competence, non-verbal competence, and interview performance scores” (Kumazaki et al., 2022, p.1). The workshops may also cover communication styles, cultural etiquette, and effective leadership in multicultural environments. The solution will promote a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration within the group. As a sustainment strategy post a training and development program, the consultant recommends facilitating regular meetings, brainstorming sessions, or online platforms where members can exchange ideas, share best practices, and collectively solve problems. Group-based training can contribute to improved performance. A research study by Kanazawa University found that in group-based training, “participant performance and confirmed that all participants were concentrating during the trials and highly motivated from the start to the finish of the experiment” (Kumazaki et al., 2022, p. 5).??

I aim to partner with organizations to support the development of their leaders to deepen and broaden their awareness of cultural norms. I recommend developing a group-level intervention that centers around diversity and inclusion initiatives. This group-level intervention aims to foster an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences and encourages the active participation of all group members. Additionally, it can promote equal opportunities and create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and empowered, allowing leaders to unleash potential talent within their diverse workforce.?

It is important to note?that the appropriateness of specific interventions may vary depending on the nature of the group, its goals, and the challenges faced. Tailoring these interventions to the unique characteristics and circumstances of your client and their group is essential.?
